The Post I’ve Been Waiting to Write

Since I started this blog in February 2010, I’ve been waiting to write one thing in a post:

I have a book deal.

And now that’s true.

To my family and friends: I can’t wait to celebrate with you. To my agent, Marissa Walsh: You quite obviously rule. And to my fellow writers still chasing that first deal: If this isn’t a sign to keep at it, I don’t know what is. I’m not exactly Emily Dickinson up in here.

Now, this post isn’t just to pat myself on the back (although I may have a bruise from doing it the last two days); it’s also my way of telling you that I’m going to be taking a short hiatus from the dining room office. I need to turn in my finished manuscript in November, so working on that will be dominating my time in the coming weeks.

Speaking of that manuscript, I can’t yet provide the details of what it’s about, who will be publishing it, or when it will hit stores and Amazon. But I promise it will be happening and that I’ll fill you in right here in the near future. In the meantime, you can keep up with me on Twitter by following @AuthorTedFox and @KnowWhosAwesome.

Like how I phrased that as though it were a privilege?

Anyway, my thanks to all of you for sticking with me while I’ve been an unpublished nobody. I know that this news isn’t as exciting for you as it is for me—that would be a little weird—but hopefully you’ll at least derive some satisfaction from having jumped on the Ted Fox bandwagon before everyone else.

Shhh. Don’t fight it.

It is as exciting for us as it is for you. But I'll pat you on the other side of the back–so you have a matching bruise. Congratulations, Ted Fox. This is really remarkable. I cannot wait to read it. I remember reading some of your shorter manuscripts from highschool in creative writing and about basketball, etc. Glad others recognize the talent. This reminds me of a something… lose yourself in the music, the moment, you want it, you better never let it go… Way to get/stay after it, I'm proud. -WW
