Warning: This post is short and incredibly self-serving.
And yes, that does make it different from the other stuff I write.
I just officially cut the cord on my first book, an image of which is now splashed prominently to the right and will remain there at least until I achieve my dream of doing nothing but making shallow, fairly obvious observations for a living.
If you realized I was just paraphrasing Seinfeld, you no doubt understand this dream.
Now, what exactly do I mean when I say I “cut the cord”? After all, the book won’t hit stores for several months (although I heard somewhere it’s available for pre-order now on Amazon), so it’s not like I’m watching it go off into the literary world and fend for itself just yet.
However, as of 15 minutes ago, I have sent the e-mail to my editor that confirms I understand I won’t see You Know Who’s Awesome? again before it goes to press. For a chronic over-checker such as myself, this is somewhat terrifying.
Fortunately, the excitement far outweighs any apprehension I have, especially because the book has gotten off to a great start on Amazon, thanks in no small part, I’m sure, to those of you hanging out here in the DO.
In all seriousness, I can’t tell you how much the support means to me. Thank you.
If you haven’t pre-ordered the book but think you will buy it at some point, I do ask that you consider pre-ordering now, as a higher Amazon rank early on can be a huge asset in this whole process.
If you don’t plan on buying the book, on the other hand, it’s cool. It’s not like I ever force-fed myself cranberries for seven days straight simply for your entertainment or anything.
And we’re back.
